Music, dance and going to the gym

How long have you been coming to Lift?
Only three months! But I have been going to Platform for two years now. That is where I heard about Lift. I was looking for a gym to join.

What do you do?
At Lift I go to the gym, Afrobeats and the youth sessions. At Platform I go to Gain Ctrl and Platform Choir.

How has Lift helped you?
Being in the gym makes me feel good - and it's making me more confident. At both the hubs I am meeting new people and making connections in music. Also I am hoping to get a job here so I can make money and save up.

What is the most important things you have learnt?
Where I come from in Romania there are no black, Asian or Chinese people. I was so excitied to meet so many nationalities. I learnt not to judge people – no one here cares how you dress or what you say. Accept everyone no matter what. I learnt to work in a team, helping others when they need it.

What is the most fun you have ever had?
One of the parties – I met new people and made friends. And working with talented people, learing new things about myself and music. And performing at events like Summer Celebration, Go Islington and Neverland.

What would you say to a young person that has never been here before?
It is the place to come if you want to go to a place to find out new things about youself, make connections, and go and do different things you have never done before.

What do you hope to be doing in three years’ time?
I hope to be making music and I would love to go to Amercia.
