Keeping myself motivated, coming to Lift, going to the gym, dance, arts, and cooking

How long have you been coming to Lift?
About fours years ago Judith came and did a presentation about Lift at our assembly at EGA school. So I started coming after that.

What do you do?
Parkour and free running, Afrobeats and street dance, music production, cooking and the gym. I have also taken part in lots of projects like planning for our Halloween party and Lift's Got Talent show.

How has Lift helped you?
It has helped with my behaviour. Being here and talking to people. It has made me feel safe and happy and more relaxed and confident. And I have learnt to cook a lot of interesting foods like Chinese, American, Indian and Caribbean.

What is the most important thing you have learnt?
How to control my anger, but I don’t even feel it any more. And the way I now listen to music to relax.

What is the most fun you have ever had?
So many things. My birthday, all the planning and preparation for Halloween party and the other projects.

What would you say to a young person that has never been here before?
It is a welcoming, nice environment, feels like home, with nice staff. Everyone gives everyone respect. There are a lot of activities – and we have movie nights!

What do you hope to be doing in the future?
I want to work with children. I am a very creative person and would like to develop a YouTube channel giving advice. I would also like to manage my friend who is a singer. I would also like to go travelling and do some volunteering abroad.

How is Lift helping you with all this?
The youth workers helped me get my apprenticeship for childcare that I am now doing. Dillon is helping me set up my YouTube channel and I can borrow the camera here to use for filming.
