Lift Youth Hub and Venue Hire
Lift is a youth hub and venue for hire
The former Victorian school now has meeting and training rooms, large multi-use halls, a 30-station gym equipped, large multi-use halls, indoor and outdoor kitchens, a large dance studio and a roof top terrace with fabulous views over London. Young people aged 13-21 take part in healthy activities like dancing, cooking, gym and exercise classes. We also have creative spaces including a recording studio.
Extensive support services for young people
Young people can come for personal help with apprenticeships, college applications, CVs, looking for work, volunteering or developing projects. We have opportunities to develop skills and experience for employment.
Lift youth workers are available to support with advice and guidance on personal issues and lifestyle decisions. We have six private advice rooms including fully-equipped clinical facilities for sexual health advice. We are a counselling and mentoring base for many youth support services including Barnardo’s, Mind Connect, Child Wellbeing Practitioners, Social Prescribing, Bright Futures, Targeted Youth Support Islington and Jigsaw.
Targeted Wellbeing Services
We operate three early intervention pathways for young people with mild-to-moderate wellbeing issues and/or emotional based school avoidance. This involves receiving direct referrals via specific GP surgeries, social care teams, NHS departments and schools. Children and young people are assisted with personal plans that combine direct delivery, on-line tools and integrated services including pre and post-clinical intervention support.
Funding and Management
The hub is funded by Islington Council and through income generated by hiring out the spaces to local businesses and organisations when it is not being used by young people. Lift is managed by Isledon Arts CIC.
