Carnival Project with iindigo world
Spend your summer holidays creating dances and or costumes and then taking part in the world famous Notting Hill Carnival procession. You will be part of an amazing spectacle, showcasing a mixture of wonderful art forms: dance, body art, costume design, prop making and carnival cooking. Everything will be created by young people working alongside professionals. You can sign up for all strands of the project or a few.
Last year our dancers won first place in the MAS band competition in the modern/contemporary category on the Sunday. We hope to build on this success.
We will also be giving performances at the Summer Celebration community festival in St Paul's Park.
This is a five week free project from Monday 25 July - Sunday 28 August with a party and performance on Friday 1 September. You can sign up for one or more of the project stands.

This session is a fusion of different urban dance styles from Socca, Dance Hall and Afrobeats, learning different dance techniques and rehearsing group choreography for the showcase performance.
Beginners: Learn the fun and creative art form of face and body painting with a carnival twist. We will be doing everything from learning to use stencils, creating themed designs, pattern work and free hand painting skills.
Advanced: You will be learning more innovative and technical skills, creating works of art plus doing the more complex body painting for the Notting Hill Carnival. You need to have a level of experience.
Food is the essence of Carnival and we are celebrating the smells and tastes of the Caribbean. Curried goat, jerk chicken and pork, rice and peas, patties, fried dumplings/festivals, ackee and salt fish, fried plantain and roasted sweetcorn will all be on the menu of delicious meals we will make.
Planning all aspects of the carnival shows. We will be doing lots of training and exercises around creativity, leadership, confidence and innovation. For young people who have already participated in Carnival and are acting as mentors this year. You have to be referred into this session.
